Nokia's already confirmed that its new "tablet" device, the N900 will be using the Linux based Maemo 5 interface, however here is the promo video showing you up close and personal what it can do in only a way a promo video can.

It seems, according to Nokia anyone hoping to use this device will be opening themselves up to a loud, fast paced, interactive lifestyle that will require you to share your life with the internet and your mates faster than you can down 12 cans of Red Bull and a bottle of Vodka.

Still, if you can keep up with the action it's worth a look. Those who prefer a pipe and a good book in front of the fire should probably turn the volume down before pressing play.

It's loud - annoying neighbour loud.

Banging.

  • I'd be fascinated to hear Nokia's reasoning for this new OS when they've already invested so heavily in Symbian, and when Android offers such out-of-the-box potential both in the short and longer term.

I can only assume that with their drive at 'over the air' services the revenue potential (and money already invested in) assets such as N-Gage, Ovi and Maps would dry up in a device agnostic environment... but so too will their revenue generating userbase if there's no content worthy of merit on a closed and proprietary platform...

With Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola, Samsung, HTC et al all gorging on a shared App Store with an ever increasing clientèle and developer community in the none too distant future... what hope has this rebellious army of one?

  • This is not such a paradigm shift as you might believe. They have simply taken their Internet Tablet line and added voice functionality to it. So it's not exactly a phone and definitley fits the niche filled by the N800 and N810. Posted by Anthony S, USA
