Palm Pre debut rumoured for 30 October in UK

Tipster leaks launch timescale

As the Palm Pre goes on sale in Canada - that first country outside the States that it's been available in - a fresh rumour has suggested a precise UK launch date for the device.

The Palm Pre has been confirmed for launch in the UK as an exclusive to O2, the Telefonica-owned operator that also currently enjoys the exclusive for the Apple iPhone, but no date has been set for availability.

Up to this point both O2 and Palm have stuck to a "before Christmas" timescale offering no further idea of when consumers in the UK will be able to buy the new high-end smartphone.

Now a tipster has informed a Palm blog that O2 UK managers (presumably as in retail) have now been given a release date for the Palm Pre by O2 head office that pegs the launch as Friday 30 October.
