Old skool security solution

Brando offers combination lock for USB drives

26 August 2009 12:54 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Forget your 256-bit encryption or biometric finger-print readers, Brando is offering a way to secure data that's old skool but no doubt just as effective.

The gadget site is selling a combination lock to basically secure data on a USB drive by making it impossible to stick said drive in any USB port.

A decidedly analogue solution to a digital security problem, the three-digit lock goes on sale mid September for $10.

  • Just snap the drive and solder the memory chip onto another head unit.

It's more a deterrent than a solution... but having said that, just using this insinuates that you have data on their worth stealing in the first place, so if anything it's promoting tea-leafery.
