Technology is replacing clothing as the medium that defines "fashion", Microsoft asserts in a recently published report.
The "Microsoft Tech To Impress" report identifies "a new breed of style-conscious consumer who puts gadgets over Gucci when it comes to looking good".
Apparently nearly half of the nation believes that being able to show off the latest new "in" gadget is as important to their overall fashion image as an item of clothing or a designer haircut.
40% of the 1000 polled say that the "style and appearance" of their tech devices is "critical to their overall look".
In fact, "nearly a quarter of the population" are said to have admitted to purchasing a piece of technology based only on its appearance while six out of ten people admit to leaving a new gadget on display for friends to notice.
