Facebook is trying to lure Twitter users back to the service by allowing its users to post to Twitter via their Facebook status pages.

In a move that will see the social networking site create a powerplay to become the sole destination for those wanting to share their life online, the company has said that it will be rolling out a new feature in the next couple of days "that allows administrators of Facebook Pages to publish their Facebook updates to their Twitter accounts automatically.

Although the new feature isn't for individual profiles as yet the site could possibly roll out the feature to its users if the Facebook Pages feature is a success.

"If you manage a Facebook Page, you now will be able to decide whether to share updates with their Twitter followers, and you also will be able to control what type of updates to share: status updates, links, photos, notes, events or all of them," said facebook.

  • I say why bother? I either twitter direct from twitter or if I am out, I use HTC Peep from my HTC Hero. Smacks of desperation on Facebooks part.

  • I use Tweetdeck which allows me to post status to Twitter and Facebook simultaneously anyway - why are folk getiing upset at this, life's too short! Posted by StevenH, Scotland
  • I like the idea of being able to post Notes, Links and Photos on Twitter from facebook, but for status updates, I will keep twitter as the primary method. Posted by Allan, England, UK
