Ricoh introduces CX2 compact digicam
Upgrade to the CX1

Ricoh has announced that it's revamping its CX1 camera into a new model - the CX2. The CX1 hasn't even been around six months, so we're not sure why a successor's been brought out so quickly. Whatever the reason, here it is.
The CX2 retains the 9-megapixel sensor of its older brother, but upgrades the zoom from 7x to 10.7x. That gives it a 28 - 300mm focal length. It has a 3-inch LCD display, and also comes with its predecessors M-Continuous Plus and other imaging technologies.
The CX2 will cost £300. We've asked Ricoh why it's replacing the CX1 quite so quickly, and if there's a firm release date for the CX2 yet. We'll update this post if and when we get a response.
Update: A Ricoh spokesperson told Pocket-lint: "The CX1 was launched 5 months ago. The CX1 will come to end of production run and be replaced eventually by CX2. The CX2 should be available in channel early September".
