Ricoh has announced that it's revamping its CX1 camera into a new model - the CX2. The CX1 hasn't even been around six months, so we're not sure why a successor's been brought out so quickly. Whatever the reason, here it is.The CX2 retains the 9-megapixel sensor of its older brother, but upgrades the zoom from 7x to 10.7x. That gives it a 28 - 300mm focal length. It has a 3-inch LCD display, and also comes with its predecessors M-Continuous Plus and other imaging technologies.
The CX2 will cost £300. We've asked Ricoh why it's replacing the CX1 quite so quickly, and if there's a firm release date for the CX2 yet. We'll update this post if and when we get a response.
Update: A Ricoh spokesperson told Pocket-lint: "The CX1 was launched 5 months ago. The CX1 will come to end of production run and be replaced eventually by CX2. The CX2 should be available in channel early September". Cameras, Compact cameras, Ricoh, Digital cameras, 9 megapixels
