• Doesn't look like it has a way to put it on a tripod (no threaded hole) or a way to put a wide angle adapter on it (cute control ring) so it's useless for panoramas. Too bad -- looks like it would have been a nice little camera to carry into the woods.

• All these camera angles, and you didn't show the most important one of all: top or side view with camera off. How much does the lens stick out when powered off? This determines whether it is a true pocket camera or not. Most ads from the mfr try to hide this dimension. Please show it :) Posted by Jasper, Germany
• Jasper - sorry about that. The lens retracts to sit flush with the Control Ring, so take image 7 and cut that back. Yes, it's fatter than many compacts, more coat pocket than jeans pocket... Posted by chrishall, United Kingdom

• It's not that fat. It's 31mm vs 26mm on my ixus. not the end of the world. Especially when compared to the 48mm of the G9/10/11. Disappointed about not having HD movies but that isn't going to stop me selling my ixus for one of these. Posted by Mark, UK
• Cool, that's what I thought. I realise it's a bit thicker than an Ixus, but much more pocketable than an LX3 or GR1. At this point, I'll take a little extra bulk for greatly improved IQ + RAW. Posted by Jasper, Germany

• i wish manufacturers would build in capability for using a shutter cable release (or better yet - a wireless remote) with point & shoot compact cameras. i've never seen this feature in a point & shoot compact. this way i would be able to use it for HDR photography and for long exposure shots. BTW, does anyone know if it has a "Bulb" function?

• Interesting, shame it only shoots 4:3 and not 3:2 like the LX3 :(. I'm a canon fan but I think I'm going to have to keep the LX3, so many cool little things it does like let you have the camera on with the screen off so you save battery but are ready to shoot, easy to get hyperfocal distance thanks to the focus bar when in manual focus mode. It will be interesting to have a look at an s90 when its in the shops, it's got its work cut out to beat the LX3... Posted by Robin, England

  Any thoughts on build quality? How does it compare in build to say a G10? Thoughts on performance? Shutter lag? Autofocus speed?

• web - as with most Canon cameras the build quality was good, it has the same feel as the G10 and the new G11. The pop-up flash is especially neat the way it powers up and down. The new control ring has a really good solid positive action to it and it so easy to change settings on the control ring and dial on the back.
  
  As this was a preproduction model, I can't comment on performance and I wasn't allowed to take any shots away. However, we will be getting our hands on it for a full review soon. Posted by chrishall, United Kingdom
• I have the LX3 and love it, i think since i like to have the HD video function i'll not buy the s90. I looked at the ixus 120 and the HD video is great, way better that my LX3, but the picture quality is just ok.

• C, USA: Penatx A40 has a remote control. If you want to take long exposure, use a tripod and turn on the self-timer. This should reduce any camera movement from depressing the shuitter! Posted by Lawrence, Australia
• I currently have the Canon SD850 IS and I LOVE the multiple image settings such as auto, portrait, kids and pets, indoor, night shot, beach, foliage, creative light effect. Does anyone have any idea what kind of image settings compared to my SD850 this new S90 has? I really want to purchase this camera, but I've grown rather attached to these auto functions.
