Last chance to grab Windows 7 RC1

Users who have yet to download Windows 7 have just hours left to do so before Microsoft pulls on the plug on the chance to trial the operating system before its official launch in October.

Although users will still be able to install the OS after Wednesday's cut off date, the software company has said that it won't be issuing any further product keys.

The OS, which is the full version, does come with restrictions and expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours.

To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to backup the programs and data that you want to use.

On Wednesday Cnet UK confirmed that the full editions of Windows 7 Home Premium will cost around £65 in the UK compared to the US price of $120 for the upgrade version, which is about £72, and a whopping $200 for the full version - £122!

Amazon's offering pre-orders for Windows 7 at £65 and Play.com has it for £75 with free delivery. Microsoft's scrapped the "E" versions it was planning that didn't have Internet Explorer 8 in, so this is the exact same software, localized to the UK.
