Samsung Mobile has announced that they are venturing into the world of the App store with the launch of the Samsung Mobile Widget SDK for its TouchWiz phones.

The release, which will cover handsets like the company's i8910 handset will allow developers to create widgets for different Samsung phones across multiple platforms, including Samsung’s propriety operating system.

The widgets have the potential to be included on Samsung devices as well as through other channels such as the Samsung Widget Gallery and Samsung’s own Application Store say Samsung, without actually detailing specifics.

The Samsung i8000 Omnia II, which will be available with Verizon Wireless later this year in the US, will be Samsung’s first handset to include the Widget Gallery.

The Omnia II features Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and the world’s largest 3.7-inch AMOLED display with WVGA resolution.

TouchWiz 2.0 User Interface and 3D effects make enjoying multimedia and multitasking convenient and fun. According to Samsung a more advanced R Touch (Resistive Touch) enables faster, more accurate touch response.
