HTC sells over a million Magics

Android handset proving popular

13 August 2009 12:09 GMT / By Duncan Geere

HTC's CEO, Peter Chou, has revealed that the company has surpassed a million sales of its "Magic" Android-powered smartphone. The announcement was made in a chat with Chinese industry website DigiTimes.

The HTC Magic was the second Android handset that the company released, following the G1 at the start of the year. It's taken just four months since its release in April to hit seven digit sales - respectable for a smartphone.

Chou also said that HTC will be focusing oon mid-range smartphones in the second half of 2009 - ones with a price around $300. That's good news for the rumours of new handsets we've seen - they're not going to be too pricy.
