Chiptune fans will be pleased to hear that an iPhone application has been developed that allows you to create classic videogame music using an onscreen NES controller.

NESynth uses three pulse wave forms (1:1, 1:3 and 1:7 to be precise), along with a triangle wave form, two white noise modes and a selection of classic sound effects. There's also an arpeggiator and a sweep option so you can pitchbend with the accelerometer.

Check out the video above to see what it's capable of. It costs $2, and it's available now from the App store.
