Nimbuzz launches on Android App market

12 August 2009 10:09 GMT / By Duncan Geere

Nimbuzz has announced that its instant messaging aggregation software is now available for Android handsets like the G1, HTC Magic, and HTC Hero. It has a number of features that are unique for Android users.

The app pushes homescreen notifications to your device, so that you can see incoming chats while you're doing other stuff on the handset. It also has a time-senstive UI, whereby you can tap a contact to open his or her profile, or hold down your finger slightly longer to open a chat window.

Nimbuzz claims it's the only software to support Skype IM, and it also supports Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, ICQ and "many more". There's also support for less Anglocentric social networks like StudiVZ, Hyves, Gadu Gadu, and Giovani.

Evert-Jaap Lugt, founder and CEO of Nimbuzz told Pocket-lint: "Mobiles are no longer just about hardware but software. Nimbuzz increases the value of the handset and enriches the user experience. Our Android version is a perfect example of what we do best, integrating Nimbuzz's award winning service to bring the best out of each operating system and handset".

The app is free, and available to download now.
