Dell dumps Mini 12 netbook

Too big for its boots?

Dell has discontinued its Dell Inspiron Mini 12 model citing too larger form factor for the decision.

"It really boils down to this: for a lot of customers, 10-inch displays are the sweet spot for netbooks," the company says on its direct2dell blog.

Although the 12-inch screen netbook is still available at the company's outlet store, it has confirmed that it won't be making any more.

"Portability is one of the key points for netbook customers. Larger notebooks require a little more horsepower to be really useful," says Lionel_Menchaca
Chief Blogger on the site.

However the post does allude to new more powerfull netbooks on the horizon:

"More to come from Dell on that later."

Suggesting Dell could be working on an Nvidia ION powered offering for release later in the year.

For the time being, Menchaca recommends that customers check out the two 10-inch offerings from the company the Mini 10 and Mini 10v.

We will keep you posted.
