SIM-free BlackBerry Curve 8520 on pre-order for £239.95

New budget RIM phone offered handset-only

7 August 2009 16:29 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

A budget BlackBerry, the 8520 gets all the push email and messaging features you'd expect from the brand, as well as a media player, mobile web access, Wi-Fi and a 2-megapixel camera.

In addition, the Curve 8520 is the first BlackBerry to feature an "innovative" touch-sensitive trackpad, like a mini version of such interfaces on laptops.

MobileFun is currently pushing pre-order sales for the Curve 8520, offering the new handset for £239.95, which appears to undercut the competition by about a tenner.

However, The Carphone Warehouse has said it will be offering the phone in "violet" for £199.95 on Pay As You Go basis - but tied into Orange.
