Win a TomTom XL Live IQ Routes Europe

Just comment on a story for a chance to win

7 August 2009 12:20 GMT / By Ben Crompton

First off, congratulations to DJC for his winning comment on the "Three in five don't think musicians should profit from downloads" story.

For those who didn't win, don't fret, because the kind folk at TomTom have sent another TomTom XL Live IQ Routes Europe unit for us to dish out for our August comments competition.

The rules of the competition are simple, you can enter as many times as you like by simply commenting on any story. It doesn't have to be in depth, detailed or technical, but it does have to be useful, helpful or funny.

You don't have to sign up to comment on the stories, we just ask for your name, location and email address - that does not show up online and is not passed on.

The TomTom device measures 123 x 80 x 18mm and features 4.3-inch touch display, the screen being bright and a convenient size enabling ease of use whilst driving.

Along with Live HD Traffic, now with added support for Europe, the TomTom XL Live has excellent route guidance and with the added MapShare feature, it allows for easy updating of maps within the TomTom community.

To be in with a chance of winning this top-notch effort just comment on any story during the months of August and September. At the end of September the Pocket-lint team will take a look and choose what we believe is the best one.

Make sure you take a look at Pocket-lint's full review via the link below where it received a 9/10 score.

  • 7 iPhone apps that let you ditch your satnav:- The Satnav death knell?

These boys haven't really grasped what is going on yet have they? The business of one trick ponies is stealthily being taken over by the new boys, smartphones. Chosing to ignore the wake-up call given by the arrival of the likes of the iPhone, will cost them dearly. Granted the dedicated satnav is good at what it does, but that is all. The smartphone offers growing functionality in the applications it sells, yet the response of satnav companies is to continue selling us updates at prices that say "stuff you, we only want your money, not your loyalty".
The next twelve months will see satnav casualties in favour of smartphone applications unless they evolve. They will never be an iPhone, but they can keep some of their market share providing their upgrade prices are more realistic and don't cost more than a complete application such as CoPilot Live which doesn't charge for updates!

Satnav is brilliant at what it does, but subscriptions to their updates suck. My iPhone is twitching for CoPilot Live being the all in one device I have been waiting for for so long to replace all the one trick ponies... I think that day will be sooner rather than later. The axiom satnav companies should be adopting is 'make a little often' you will still be rich instead of trying to make a lot less frequently, to the point you put yourselves out of business.

  • Beware when buying the Tomtom Go 740.I bought one some months ago & informed Tomtom that the Blutooth hands free was one way transmission,IE people could hear me but they sounded very faint to me.Tomtom told me my mobile was incompatable.I have now purchased a compatable phone & the problem persists, even my mobile shop was unaware of this problem. So before purchasing the GO740 go to the Tomtom site & check out compatable phones otherwise like me you could be wasting a lot of time & money. All other aspects of this Sat Nav are great. • Lol why do some people have so many problems updating a simple thing like a freeview box, I've just updated 5 with no problems, a chimpanzee could do it blind folded. Posted by Steve, Somerset, England
