The company behind Mobile Auctions for eBay has launched a new service that allows you to check prices on Amazon from your mobile phone.Users can easily browse Amazon, check prices, availability, postage and buyer product ratings. At the press of a button they can add the item to their shopping basket or to their wishlist for future purchase.
Price Check for Amazon takes mobile convergence with the fixed Internet to unprecedented levels - users register with an email and a Skype address - if they have one.
As soon as the user hits the check-out button, an email is sent to their inbox from Amazon's check out page, to conclude the transaction from their desktop. The inclusion of Skype allows the system to remind the user of any incomplete transactions, via a Skype Message using Presence.
Price Check for Amazon will be available by the end of Q1 2006 and will roll out across Europe's major countries through network operators and portals. It will be available for all of Amazon's country sites including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France and Germany.
There will be a small one-off fee to download Price Check For Amazon. The application will be available across more than 130 java-enabled handsets.
