We got a chance to get our hands on Powermat's wireless charging system recently, and took the opportunity to get one or two photos which we're pleased to share with you.

The magnetic induction technology behind it seems to work well for iPhone and BlackBerry users, but it seems a little inconvenient for owners of other gadgets. The company admits this, saying that the number one audience are owners of RIM and Apple's handsets.

If you're in that rather exclusive club, and have somewhere suitable for putting the powermat, then it seems like a good - if slightly expensive - choice. The mat costs £70, the travel version is £80, and the cases for your mobile cost around £30. They'll all be available in the first week of October.
