Samsung has announced a new eco-friendly handset with US operator Sprint in New York and Pocket-lint was on hand to grab a feel of the corn based product.

We say corn based, because that's what it's made of although we would advise against trying to eat it.

What you will get is a QWERTY-based slider handset with a 2-megapixel camera and WAP rather than HTML enabled browser.

Sprint seems keen on keeping the price below $50, according to a spokesman that talked to us, and those that want to buy can do so from the 16 August.

However tech noobies should be warned, in an attempt to save trees, you won't get a manual in the box.

Although a US exclusive, Samsung has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it will be releasing similar eco handsets around the globe, including the UK.
