O2 gains 252k

The latest statistics from mobile phone networks show troubling results for Vodafone and T-Mobile, but extremely positive numbers for O2.

According to the Guardian, Vodafone lost 159,000 subscribers between April and June and T-Mobile dropped 87,000 customers in the same quarter. Orange mostly maintained its numbers, but added 3000, whereas O2 increased its customers by a whopping 252,000.

The weak performance of fourth-place T-Mobile has fuelled further speculation that one of the larger networks might buy it out. Vodafone has reportedly been approached to see if it might consider such a deal, and Orange and O2 have also expressed interest.
