A new iPhone app aimed at pre-schoolers has been launched in the US, ever-widening the scope of such applications.

Obviously designed to be downloaded to a parent's iPhone or iPod touch, PBS KIDS is offering the "Curious George Coloring Book App".

It's described, rather grandly, as "an interactive art supply kit for iPhone and iPod touch designed to encourage color experimentation across a full spectrum of hues".

The app offers 48 "pages" to colour in, a colour wheel with a palette of 45 colours and virtual stickers.

Finished works can be saved and uploaded to the likes of Facebook. The app is available in the US now via the App Store for $2.99.
