Canon go entry-level mad with five new A-series models

Aside from the three Ixus models, Canon also announced a further five new models apart of its PowerShot A-series range.

The new models include the Powershot A430, A530, A540 and A700 as well as the PowerShot S3 IS which replaces last year's PowerShot S2 IS as Canon's 12x Image Stabiliser optical zoom compact.

Highlights of the range include the 6.0 megapixel PowerShot A700.

All of the cameras feature Canon's DIGIC II processor for better image quality, larger LCD screens and wider ISO settings to offer better image capture in a wider range of situations.

Prices for the models are:

PowerShot S3 IS - available May 2006 for £449.00
PowerShot A700 - available March 2006 for £289.00
PowerShot A540 - available March 2006 for £249.00
PowerShot A530 - available March 2006 for £199.00
PowerShot A430 - available March 2006 for £149.00

The launch of the new cameras was apart of Canon's Spring Collection 2006 announcement where the company introduced 39 new products.
