Carphone details BlackBerry Curve 8520 in violet

28 July 2009 14:41 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

We brought you this news yesterday, but it's now official as the Carphone Warehouse has announced it will be the exclusive retailer of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 in violet when the smartphone is launched on 11 August.

A budget BlackBerry, the 8520 gets all the push email and messaging features you'd expect from the brand, as well as a media player, mobile web access, Wi-Fi and a 2-megapixel camera.

In addition, the Curve 8520 is the first BlackBerry to feature an "innovative" touch-sensitive trackpad, like a mini version of such interfaces on laptops.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available for free at The Carphone Warehouse on a £25 a month contract from Orange, with free email, 500 texts and 600 inclusive minutes or for £199.95 on Pay As You Go basis, also with Orange.
