Hours after an announcement and we've already got a hands-on with the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 in all its optical trackpad glory.

We also managed to wheedle some network information out of the company re launch dates.

In the UK, It'll be showing up in August, with Orange offering it on both pre-paid deals and post-paid contracts, and Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse will also be offering it, with the latter getting it in violet, as well as black.

In the US it will be heading to T-Mobile.

  • I have a feeling that it will stay on t-mobile as long as the 8900 did, and then get on AT&T.. Posted by Josh F., United States of America
  • It really looks great. Too bad it will only be available through T-Mobile. Their coverage in my area is very poor.

  • My main concern is with the performance of the os itself on my 8310. The trackball is great and I doubt this will be better. It's probably worse.

Perhaps this will be less affected by your pocket? That is the only advantage I can see.

  • I've usd a blackberry for some time and find that from time to time the ball can get clogged with pocket lint. I presume this is an attempt to stop that from happening. If it is as responsive as the optical dpad found on the Samsung handsets bb should be on to a winner Posted by stuartmiles, United Kingdom
  • I as disappointed that there is no flash for the camera. Posted by nicmz, United States
