In the States, Sony has announced new models into its range of MegaChangers for consumers looking to organise their disc collections in a central fashion.

The new models are the BDP-CX960 and the “Elevated Standard” BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray disc MegaChangers.

The MegaChangers store and play 400 Blu-ray discs, DVDs, and CDs - something Sony says allows consumers to "relocate their disc library to a convenient, easy-to-access location".

The models boast the ability to download metadata from Gracenote’s MusicID and VideoID products with the Gracenote tech automatically adding info as a disc is inserted.

The BDP-CX7000ES and BDP-CX960 output full HD 1080/60p, 24p True Cinema and can upscale standard def DVDs to 1080p. Both models get an Ethernet port for Gracenote hook-up as well as for BD-Live content and firmware updates.

In addition, the MegaChangers support 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding as well as bit-stream output via HDMI.

The BDP-CX7000ES will be available in August for about $1900, while the BDP-CX960 will be available sometime in autumn for about $800.
