ViewSonic launches world’s smallest business PC

VOT120 and VOT121 nettops announced

At 39 x 115 x 130mm, the ViewSonic VOT120 and VOT121 could be called anything but big, yet manage to cram in a full-spec PC. The target market for the new nettops are small and home businesses that don’t require large, power-hungry computers that take up a lot of desk space.

The VOT120 is based on the Intel Atom N270 processor which is normally found in netbooks. It has 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, four USB 2.0 ports, a DVI port and maybe most importantly to business users, an eSATA port for quick backups to an external hard drive. It also has 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet for all possible networking scenarios.

The VOT121 uses Intel’s CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) processor and has more powerful graphics than the VOT121. The only other difference is that it comes with an HDMI port, which we’re not quite sure how useful it’ll be on a business PC, but it would at least allow you to connect it to an HD TV or a projector easily without the need of any special cables.

Both models are very power efficient, as the VOT120 uses a 30W power adaptor, while the VOT121 uses a 50W one. Both models can be mounted at the back of a display and as such won’t take up any desk space at all. The VOT120 is priced at £184, while the VOT121 is slightly more expensive at £255. We don’t have a confirmed launch date in Europe so far on either model but will keep you posted.
