Microsoft will be announcing eight different variants of its next operating system making sure there is something for everyone.

According to Microsoft, it will be launching:

Windows Starter 2007, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Basic N, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Business N, Windows Vista Enterprise, and finally Windows Vista Ultimate.

The "N" releases are those which do not include Media Player and have been announced to comply with European directive and the anti-competitive ruling against Microsoft that forces a version without the bundled software.

According to the company the two to look out for are Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate. The former will feature Media Center elements including an extender functionality for Xbox360 owners and the later will include everything from all eight verisons.

Although Microsoft has yet to set a launch date for the new OS, Pocket-lint has previously reported that the software is expected to launch at the end of November 2006.
