US mobile operator Sprint has announced that it will be launching a new 4G network in Las Vegas in the US from August.
The new Sprint 4G offering will offer gamblers and party-goers wireless network connectivity three to five times faster than today's 3G speeds from a 3G/4G broadband dongle.
Sprint 4G customers will be able to get peak downlink speeds of more than 10Mbps and average downlink speeds of 3-6Mbps, although mobile internet surfers wanting the extra speed will have to opt for a more expensive 3G/4G price plan.
Sprint claims it is the first national carrier to test, launch and market wireless 4G technology, with the promise of other cities including Portland in Oregon and Atlanta in Georgia also in August and Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Seattle and Honolulu later in the year.
New York, Boston, Houston, and San Francisco are all scheduled to get the new faster service in 2010 a spokeswomen for the company told Pocket-lint.
Pricing and an exact launch date is still to be confirmed.
