O2: Substation fire brings London cell sites down

20 July 2009 18:10 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

If you are a London-based O2 customer experiencing some signal issues with your handset today, then it's not the operator's coverage at fault.

It seems a fire in the capital has brought down cell sites causing issues for those in affected areas, as well as an outage for those trying to get hold of people in the vicinity.

It's not clear if other operators have been affected. O2 has revealed the news through Twitter. A recent tweet states:

"Due to a fire at a power substation, some cell sites in London are down. We're working with the power company to restore coverage ASAP".
