Sky News offers interactive Solar System
To commemorate moon landing
20 July 2009 15:41 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott
Sky News has launched an interactive Solar System on its website to commemorate the first landing of man on the Moon.
The graphic lets users click around the Solar System by different planets and get access to key stats and facts and figures about that planet as well as a "did you know" fact for each one. The stats include year of discovery, closest distance from Earth and diameter.
An exclusive video is also available on the site with Anu Ojha, director of education and space communications at The National Space Centre, who explains why he thinks that another landing on the Moon by man is probably about 10 years away and why Mars is 30 years away.
Hugh Westbrook, interactive producer for Skynews.com, says: "Sky News is known for its innovative approach to news, and our video and picture rich website has been appealing to more and more regular visitors since we re-launched last year".
