If you weren't gripped by the golfing drama and almost historic win for Tom Watson at Turnberry yesterday, you might have seen something quite extraordinary on the slopes of a Swiss Alp.

Stage 15 of the Tour de France headed to Verbier and all the questions about who's the leader of Team Astana were answered once and for all.

Lance Armstrong made his much publicised return to the Tour this year as an all-conquering and, in some cases, unwelcome hero, but yesterday he was made to look almost ordinary by his team-mate Alberto Contador.

The young Spaniard showed the entire field how to climb and it was quite something to see.
