With more on-agains and off-agains that a soap opera romance, after 18-months of negotiations, a Microsoft and Yahoo deal is now said to be "imminent".

Reports suggest that talks are again under way between the two companies, so Microsoft may finally buy-out Yahoo's search engine division following its previous $45 billion offer for the entire company last winter.

The Guardian reports that an analyst has told investment website 24/7 Wall Street a deal is "imminent", while the All Things Digital blog also suggests an agreement is close to completion.

All hearsay and speculation at this stage, it's thought Microsoft could pay £1.8 billion for Yahoo's search advertising division with a possible revenue sharing deal also mentioned.
