Microsoft Store down on Windows 7 demand

Pre-order fail for official pre-sales page

Microsoft Store down on Windows 7 demand . Software, Microsoft, Windows 7, Online 1

While Amazon is reporting sales success for Windows 7, with demand outstripping that of Vista with more copies of Windows 7 pre-ordered in its first 8 hours on the site than Windows Vista achieved in its entire 17 week pre-order period, Microsoft is not having the same luck.

It seems demand over at the Microsoft Store pre-order page has toppled the site - which must be a bit of a feat considering the software giant would surely have factored in the increased traffic.

A notice on the relevant page reads: "Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Store. Due to the eagerly anticipated Windows 7 pre-order offer we’re experiencing a higher level of demand on our website than usual. This means you can’t access the site right now and we’re sorry about that. We’ll be back up and running as soon as we can so please try again soon to get your hands on a copy of Windows 7!"
