Windows 7 tops Amazon charts
Beats 17 weeks of Vista sales in 8 hours

Amazon has said that "thousands" of customers have "raced" to the online retailer to pre-order their copy of Windows 7, sending it straight to number one in the software chart.
Microsoft's next operating system, due for general release on 22 October 2009, is now available to order for release-day delivery in countries across the globe.
Although the pre-sales scheme is slightly different, demand appears to have outstripped that of Vista with more copies of Windows 7 pre-ordered in its first 8 hours on the site than Windows Vista achieved in its entire 17 week pre-order period.
Amazon is offering pre-sales pre-orders of Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional for £44.97 and £89.97 respectively.
