Samsung has announced the launch of the "ultra-compact" HMX-U10 camcorder, capable of full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution recording and 10-megapixel stills.

With a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor, the HMX-U10 has a 2-inch LCD screen and measures in at 56 x 103 x 15.5mm, weighing 95 grams including the battery.

With what Samsung says is an "ergonomic design", aiming at the pocket video camcorder market, the device offers a one-touch upload button with a direct connection to YouTube.

Complete with Samsung's built-in "intelli-studio" software for PC-free edits, there's also "animated" thumbnails for quick clip identification.

The HMX-U10 will be available from September 2009.
