Samsung has launched two new camcorders into its K-Series with the launch of the SMX-K40 and SMX-K44.

The SMX-K40 and SMX-K44 record video in 720 x 480 standard definition and then up-scale the footage to "near full HD" when viewing through an HDMI output.

The SMX-K44 offers an 16GB SSD which Samsung says provides around 10 hours of recording, while the SMX-K40 records to SD/SDHC memory card.

Both models offer Samsung's 65x Intelli-Zoom with 52x optical zoom, image stabilisation, built-in "Intelli-studio" software and animated thumbnails.

The SMX-K40 and SMX-K44 will be available from August 2009. More info and pricing to be revealed nearer the time.
