Lexmark follows HP with web-connected printer range

Lexmark has followed HP in announcing that it will launch three web-connected printers later this year for those who like to stay connected while they print.

However, rather than opt for an app-based system, like the recently announced printer from HP that allows you to download a series of apps to access services like Google Maps away from the printer, Lexmark believes that users are desperate to stay in touch with news as they stand over the printer.

The web-enabled element will come in the guise of the ability to read RSS feeds, but comments from Lexmark suggest little else for the printers that will cost between $199 to $399.

The three web-connected touch screen all-in-one printers will all sport Wi-Fi as standard, as well as Lexmark's myTouch capacitive 4.3-inch touchscreen technology.

The company has said that it plans to launch eight new printers, three of which will be web-enabled, in September, geared towards small- and medium-sized businesses.
