MediaGuardian 100 top ten dominated by tech

13 July 2009 15:47 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

The MediaGuardian has announced its "100" for 2009, with the top ten dominated by personalities from the world of tech.

The list is described as the annual guide to the most powerful people in television, radio, newspaper, magazines, digital media, media business, advertising, marketing and PR.

Heading up the top ten are Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the co-founders of Google. Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive of Apple share the fourth slot while Steve Ballmer of Microsoft is at five.

Ranking 9th, and surprisingly high considering the relative short time Twitter has been in the media spotlight, is the micro-blogging service's co-founder Evan Williams.

Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey, the other Twitter founding partners, do not appear on the list, perhaps as Williams has seen previous success with Blogger.com, later sold to Google.

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerbeg, the founder and CEO of Facebook just missed out on a top ten slot in 11th place.
