Fujifilm's FinePix Real 3D camera due September

$600 compact to bring three dimensions to the consumer

Fujifilm will unveil the world's first 3D digital camera aimed at the consumer market later this year.

Currently dubbed the FinePix Real 3D System, the device is said to be not bigger or heavier than conventional digi-cams.

The 10-megapixel camera will have two lenses, spaced the same distance apart as human eyes, that will produce a stereoscopic illusion of depth.

The images snapped with the camera will be able to be viewed through an 8-inch 3D digital picture frame or as a Fujifilm 3D print, made with "a clear plastic overlay that acts as a kind of 3D lens".

The camera is due to debut in Japan this summer and will see a European and American launch in September for around $600.

The frame will cost around $200 while the price of the prints, that will be ordered online, has yet to be determined. We will keep you posted.
