Palm webOS getting 1.1 update

Due in next 30 days

The Palm Pre hasn't quite made it over to the UK yet, but when it does it looks like it'll be arriving with updated firmware. US owners will be getting a 1.1 update within the next 30 days.

There's a few security additions, including better handling of digital certificates, the ability to remote-wipe the phone, added password controls, and handset auto-locking capabilities.

So far so piecemeal, but there's also going to be some new applications. It's unclear whether that means Palm will be making some apps, or whether it'll be third-party development, but any population of the bare Palm App Catalogue will be seen as a good thing by owners of the device.

More when we get it.
