The iPhone's list of available applications is getting ever longer and ever diverse with the news that the American Heart Association has released the new Pocket First Aid & CPR app for the iPhone platform.

The association's first iPhone-themed offering, the angle is that with the app, emergency first aid info will be available anytime, anywhere, even when out of mobile signal range.

The app features hundreds of pages with illustrations on topics such as CPR, choking, bites, bruises, burns, seizures and diabetic emergencies.

In addition, there are 20 videos showing how to respond in critical first aid situations as well as the option to add your own medical info and relevant contact details for medical practitioners.

It is available now for download at Apple's iTunes store in the States for $3.99.
