Facebook Fan Box announced

Real-time widget for celebs, bands and brands

Facebook has announced a scheme that will see Facebook content - and branding - available across other sites, another move towards the real-time updates the social networking site is currently favouring.

Those with a Facebook "Page", usually celebrities, bands or brands, can now get an embeddable Facebook widget, dubbed a "Fan Box" to stick on their site.

This will provide a sort of mini version of their Facebook Pages page with the most recent updates, how many fans they have, etc, showing up in the little box.

Taking such functionality away from the main Facebook site, Facebook users will be able to become a fan directly from a Facebook Fan Box.

In a blog post Facebook explains: "Now, when I visit the websites of Kings of Leon, Lenny Kravitz or Roger Federer, I not only see their exclusive content but also the personal updates they're posting directly on Facebook including status updates, photos, videos and much more".
