Apple is gearing up to celebrate the first anniversary of the iTunes App Store. The App Store went live on 10 or 11 July last year (depending where in the world you were) and has arguably seen major success over the last 12 months.
Apple hit the one billion apps sold milestone back in April - 9 months into the stores launch.
To celebrate the Store's first birthday, Apple has highlighted its "favourite" games and apps, as explained in the message below, that currently appear on iTunes:
"Light a candle and cue the music. Okay, forgive us for sounding like doting parents, but we're just so proud - having watched the App Store go from promising newcomer to full-fledged revolutionary. To celebrate its first birthday, we've gathered some of our favourite games and apps. Part fun. Part function. Entirely amazing".
Highlighted apps include Ocarina, eBay, Starmap and Shazam while games in the spotlight encompass The Sims 3, Toki Tori, Monopoly and Flick Fishing.
