In a change of direction, Sony has announced the launch of its first proper netbook in the form of the Vaio W-Series.Described as a "chic mini noteook", the W-Series gets a 10.1-inch, 16:9 widescreen with a 1366 x 768 resolution display.
Elsewhere Sony's entry to the netbook market reads like any other bog standard netbook with an Intel Atom N280 processor, 160GB hard disk drive, 1GB RAM and Windows XP.
There's also a webcam and mic, b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Available in white, pink and dark brown, the W-Series will go on sale from mid-August in the UK.
