Limited edition Leica D-Lux 4 Safari announced

Will it help you shoot lions?

Leica has released a new limited edition version of its D-Lux 4 camera for those heading out to the wilderness.

The new model, called the Leica D-Lux 4 Safari, will offer the same 10.1-megapixel sensor as seen on the camera previously, however in a safari friendly green rather than silver or black case.

The new lion friendly model will cost £765 when it becomes available in the UK in September, a premium of almost £200.

First announced at Photokina in September 2008, the D-Lux-4 is being given the rather grand title of "Son of M8" boasting, as it does, a full 24mm wide angle lens (with a full f/2.0 aperture), a hot-shoe and fitting a range of accessories.

Photographers can snap in "Fine", "Standard", "RAW" or combinations of these, and there is also an option for shooting images for display on HD televisions.

Also worth a mention are the manual focus, shutter speed, stops and exposure override options.
