We brought you news that Nokia is prepping a rugged phone, supposedly the 3720, and here it is, complete with video footage.

Confirming the phone exists, and as a teaser for the launch, this mini clip sees the handset whacked by a golf club in a slightly wonky tee off from one of the Nokia Conversations team.

Described only as a prototype of a "tough new Nokia phone", the candybar handset looks fairly slim for a rugged effort.

Hit play now to see the phone just about survive the bashing and we'll bring you more news on the new phone when we get it.

  • If I ever want to play golf with a mobile phone, I would have gone for an iPhone myself, but a Nokia seems the next best peice of **** to tee-off with! Posted by Tony Hedges, UK
  • wow, you couldn't get somebody with a decent swing to test this? Posted by Mike, USA
  • That is very very lame - you might as well test it for waterproof by letting a couple of drops of water hit it. Submit it to a proper golf swing and it'd be destroyed - send me one and I'll film it on the first tee at my club! Posted by Richard, UK
  • Apart from tapping it with a celery stick , the phone goes out of shot (hits the ground too hard perhaps) and a nice new shiney phone reappears stage left.
Well, I'm convinced it was genuine :-)
Still prefer the XP-3 for a rugged looking phone
