EMTEC plans Revo-style "G Box" nettop
Atom powered ION box
2 July 2009 17:50 GMT / By Chris Hall
EMTEC today flashed their forthcoming nettop at an event in London. Currently going under the internal name of "G Box", it is lined-up to compete in the nettop market against the likes of the Acer Aspire Revo.
When questioned, a spokesperson for EMTEC confirmed that it did pack Nvidia's ION chipset to handle graphics, although the absence of an HDMI on the version we saw raised an eyebrow.
EMTEC clarified that two versions were being prepared, the first pitched at the business market as a dummy node PC, without the HDMI, whilst a higher-spec entertainment version would follow along.
Details are scant, however EMTEC did confirm the Intel Atom processor supported by the Nvidia ION chipset, 160GB hard disc drive and Windows XP.
The unit sees a VGA port, 4x USB connections on the rear alongside the Ethernet connection, and a further 2x USB on the front, along with 3.5mm jacks for headphones and a mic.
The suggested price would be around £179 for the HDMI-less version and yes, it will come with a bracket to mount it on your monitor.
We will keep you updated.
