With just the coming soon HTC Hero on its books to fill the large, high-end, touchscreen, smartphone gap in Orange's portfolio, it seems the operator has grabbed at the chance of offering Toshiba's high-end TG01.Slightly spoiling Toshiba's planned press conference on 9 July to announce the phone for the UK market, a "coming soon" page has appeared on Orange's site.
It seems Orange will be offering the handset on a pay monthly basis with £35 per month contracts, but little else is revealed at this stage, presumably with more due after the 9th, unless Orange is planning further revelations before then.
Recent rumours have suggested that Orange has lost out to O2 in the bid to offer the Palm Pre in the UK, so if this is the case, although a very different handset proposition from the Pre, the decent TG01 will go some way to make up for that loss.
UPDATE: The "coming soon" TG01 page has now been removed from Orange's site, we've asked for clarification as to whether it will be offering the new Tosh device.
