Panasonic cameras take two world firsts with new models

World’s smallest camera with 28mm wide angle lens and the world’s smallest 10x optical zoom digital still camera from Panasonic

Panasonic has launched the world's smallest camera with 28mm wide angle lens and the world's smallest 10x optical zoom digital still camera ahead of PMA at the end of the month.

The two new models are the The Lumix DMC-TZ1 and DMC-FX01.

The new 6.0 megapixel DMC-FX01 is the latest addition to the FX series boasts a whole host of features including a 28mm wide angle LEICA DC lens with 3.6x optical zoom

As with other models in the range the camera features the company's Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) technology to promise blur free images and the DMC-FX01 is capable of capturing images at a maximum sensitivity setting of ISO 1600

320 pictures on one charge, a 1.6 second start up time (20% less than the predecessor DMC-FX9) and a 0.005 second shutter release time lag are some of the additional features available.

In addition to standard VGA(640x480) motion image recording, as featured on the DMC-FX9, the DMC-FX01 also records full-size movies in wide-aspect VGA (840x480) at 30fps, enabling you to view your recordings on a widescreen television.

The Lumix DMC-FX01 also boasts a 207K pixel high resolution, 2.5 inch LCD and will be available in March.

The Lumix DMC-TZ1 claims to be the world's smallest 10x optical zoom digital still camera.

Furthermore the zoom ratio can be extended up to 12.5x in 3 megapixel resolution mode with minimal deterioration thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom.

250 pictures on a single charge, 18 scene modes, unlimited consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the 13.4MB built-in memory or the SD memory card, a shutter release time of only 0.006sec minimum and a shutter interval of approximately 0.5 seconds are just some of the highlights.

In addition to standard VGA (640x680) at 30fps motion image recording, the TZ1 also records stunning full-size movies in wide aspect VGA (840x840) at 30fps, enabling you to view them on a widescreen television.

Like the DMC-FX01 the TZ1 has a 207K high resolution, 2.5 inch LCD screen and is available in April.
