Samsung launches R620

Following the announcement of the 17.3-inch R720, Samsung has now launched its little brother, the 16-inch R620.

With a 16:9 aspect ratio, so a film will fill the backlit screen, the R620 gets a Blu-ray drive, and, thanks to the HDMI port, the ability to play BD movies on a big screen HD TV.

Offering an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the R620 gets the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics card, up to 4GB RAM and up to 500GB hard drive.

Said to be one of the lightest laptops in its class at 2.75kg, the R620 offers a 17-key full-sized numeric keypad, and claims up to 4.5 hours of battery life.

A quick round up of other specs sees a webcam, three-in-one card reader, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, 3-Watt speakers and four USB ports including one combo USB/eSATA.

Complete with Vista Home Premium, the Samsung R620 will be available from July throughout the UK with pricing starting at £699.
