Government to target mobile TV watchers without a licence

The UK government is suggesting that users without a TV licence in the UK maybe liable for a fine

While the 3GSM conference maybe excelling the virtues of getting television on your mobile and watching it, the UK government is suggesting that users without a TV licence in the UK maybe liable for a fine.

In an article in The Times, the newspaper suggests that the government is looking to clamp down on users who don't currently have a licence but enjoy watching television on their phone.

“Although most Britons are already covered by their domestic TV licence, the warning from TV Licensing may worry thousands of students who had hoped to avoid the bill, which is currently £126.50, by watching television on the web via their PC or on a third-generation mobile phone.” The paper says.

Putting fear into every student across the land, the paper suggests that “plans to require stores to divulge mobile phone buyers' information to TV Licensing officials are under consideration.”
